The theory slip that stays under this clef
ClefSlip is a Lifestyle music-theory practice stand. Today's PracticeSlip is already clipped under the brass clef on a warm paper surface — run the first drill, check an interval by ear, pin a MissMark, and let tomorrow's slip be rewritten from what you missed. Practice slips, drills, ear-check outcomes, the miss ledger, practice preferences (instrument, daily minutes, level), worksheet stills, Accept / Edit / Reject outcomes, practice-reminder toggles, and the AI data-sharing preference stay in this App's container on this iPhone. ClefSlip does not create a ClefSlip account and does not sync the stand to a ClefSlip cloud. Running a drill or locking a slip after Accept never leaves the device by itself.
Drills, ear-checks, pinned misses, and preferences
You may keep today's and tomorrow's slip summaries, drill families (interval / key signature / chord quality), staff prompts and results, local or talk ear-check labels, pinned misses marked for tomorrow, worksheet stills bound to a slip, chat or transcribed questions about a drill, practice preferences, notification switches, and whether AI data sharing is on. Opening the clipped slip, starting the next drill, checking by ear, or Accepting a coach draft does not require a login.
Worksheet camera, talk, Photos, and practice chimes you choose
When you choose the related path, ClefSlip may ask for:
- Camera to photograph a practice worksheet so the coach can bind that still to today's slip
- Photo Library to pick a worksheet photo already on this phone, and to write the annotated practice slip still — staff plus miss ink — back when you ask
- Microphone for on-device pitch ear-checks and for talk when you ask about a drill
- Speech recognition so spoken words become text; ClefSlip requests on-device recognition when Apple Speech supports it, and usage copy states talk is transcribed on this device
- Local notifications (optional) for practice-time chimes — permission is requested along the first locked-slip path or when you enable a reminder in Settings, never as a cold-launch splash prompt
Deny any permission and keep using paths that do not need it — type instead of speak, skip a worksheet still, or leave chimes off. Local pitch ear-checks are judged on this iPhone; microphone audio for those ear-checks never leaves the phone. This tip does not show an App Tracking Transparency prompt and does not integrate an advertising or attribution SDK.
Free tip — no StoreKit spend unit
The reviewed build does not include StoreKit, subscriptions, consumable credits, Restore, or a ClefSlip paywall. Running a drill, locking a slip, pinning a miss, or sending a DeepSeek coaching turn is not gated on a balance.
No cross-app tracking harvest
PrivacyInfo on this tip sets tracking to false with an empty tracking-domain list. ClefSlip does not ship Adjust, Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, or another measurement SDK on the reviewed Sources. We do not sell worksheet stills or transcripts to data brokers for advertising. ClefSlip photographs practice paper and staff; it does not collect face data.
DeepSeek coach — only after Allow DeepSeek sharing
Nested-coach turns that compose tomorrow's drills or answer drill talk leave this iPhone only after you tap Allow DeepSeek sharing on the consent card (or after you re-enable Settings → AI data sharing when no prior Allow exists). Tapping Don't Allow — keep it local keeps PracticeSlips, drills, and the miss ledger fully usable; no DeepSeek request is built. Turning AI data sharing off stops later and in-flight DeepSeek requests immediately.
When allowed for a coaching turn, ClefSlip may send only what that turn packs — for example today's drills (family, staff prompt, result), pinned misses, up to two worksheet photos as pixels, typed or transcribed questions, and practice preferences. ClefSlip does not send an account, an advertising identifier, contacts, calendar events, payment data, or face data inside DeepSeek payloads. Requests go to DeepSeek at api.deepseek.com using the operator model configured in the app (deepseek-flash). DeepSeek's own policy opens inside the app as DeepSeek policy: https://www.deepseek.com/en/privacy
A MiniMax API key may be present in the binary for future work; this tip does not open a MiniMax network path (speech recognition is Apple Speech on-device), so MiniMax does not receive your slips or miss ledger from ClefSlip today.
Clearing the stand
Deleting ClefSlip (or wiping this iPhone's app data) removes the local stand; we cannot rebuild your PracticeSlips, drills, ear-checks, or MissMarks from our servers because there is no ClefSlip cloud backup.
Children, scope, and the brass-clip desk
ClefSlip is not directed at children under 13, is not a Kids Category app, is not Tenuto or iReal Pro themselves, and is not an accompaniment generator or medical hearing device. For privacy questions email stand@clefslip.app.
